the city of cranes

60% of the population of Iceland live in Reykjavik. It’s a city in transition.  Building on a large and small scale is everywhere.  Visitor numbers are up 59% and the economy is buoyant.  The 340,000 natives are now outnumbered by the annual tally of US visitors.  I am one of those visitors.

People say Reykjavik is over crowded.  If you never get off the main drag, tourists are everywhere.  II like the side streets and those off-beat neighborhoods where tourists dare not go.

OR … look around you and just take a photo.
