giantess boilers

Icelanders are complaining.  “It’s too crowded. We can’t handle it.  There is too much traffic.”   Looking for a place to have a picnic, we happened upon this spot. Except for the kayakers getting their boat in the water, we were the only ones at this site.  And yes the water is really this color.

Bruarhlod is the name of the highest part of 10km long canyon. The river Hvita  has caused strange rock formations and deep indentations called “giantess boilers.”  The canyon is made up breccia ( a type of tuff mixed with small square basalt stones) which form rock formations.
